Pretty slow month, but you have to see the ugliest Coyote ever...

Again, I can’t explain my obsession with game camera pictures, but I could barely wait for the month to end so that I could retrieve my cards and see what passed through the woods in February.  At this particular location in St. Louis County I am currently monitoring 2 cameras. One of them had virtually no interesting activity, other than a trio of trespasses probably shed hunting or possibly searching for arrowheads.  In fact, both cameras caught trespassers in the act, something that drives me crazy as I have always tried so hard to respect other people’s property yet there are so many who just don’t seem to care. I am just happy that no one stole the cameras, a sad statement if you really think about it.

The general deer activity picked up a bit, although the numbers still seem smaller than I would typically anticipate them to be for the area.  The human activity on the property really picked up towards the end of December and this seemed to push the deer off-site.

Apparently the same deer back 19 minutes later.

Also a fox shows up quite a bit

Raccoons and opossum are common visitors

Deer that appear to have recently shed antlers.  This was actually pretty exciting to see as this is the same deer that was the headliner in the January Game Photo post, he is just without antlers now.

I wish that I would see more turkeys, but again only had one image captured this month.  At least it is a gobbler.

Now the star of the show, the ugliest coyote I have ever seen.  This is most likely the same coyote seen in the January Game Camera post, but the mange has gotten considerably worse.  This animal only shows up during the daytime, and is probably in very poor health.

So that does it.  Lots of photos of squirrels, rabbits, even just shadows sliding across the ground, but nothing too incredibly out of the ordinary.  Still no Armadillos or bobcats, but that is part of what makes it fun to pull the card every month. Who knows what we will find in March?

Please feel free to share your best pics in the comments, always fun for me to see what’s out there.

As always, thanks for reading!
