A busy month for the game cameras, not only for deer but also for some unwelcome visitors.

I have to admit I had a tremendous amount of anticipation leading up to my end of the month memory card retrieval from the game cameras.  We have just had a fairly consistent stream of images from the same deer all year, and I was hoping that the good luck would continue.  I also had a conversation with a neighbor who swears that there is a large buck with 16+ points in the area, so I keep hoping to luck out and catch him on camera.  Lastly, we did pull some images early in the month and had large numbers of daytime bucks nearly every day.

It turns out that there still good numbers of daytime deer again, pretty much all month.  Still no sign of the legendary 16 pointer, but that’s ok.  Below are some of the better deer images from the month:

Whitetail antlers

Nice close up shot of one of our regulars

Rare moment of affection between buck and fawn

Of course I get as much fun out of some of the other creatures that show up on the cameras.  This month we had a few more things to look at, even if I still don’t have my armadillo.  Some of them welcome and some of them not…

Opossum with youg

Coyote on game camera

Coyotes are back – actually saw several this month, all at night

Tresspasser with shed

Another unwelcome and uninvited creature, looks like he found an old shed

Game camera snake

Looks to me like a large snake – a first for me on game camera

You may have noticed that one of the cameras had the dates all messed up, but that has been corrected in time to possibly start putting a pattern on some of these deer.  I’m afraid a large construction project in the area may cause some irregularities in the deer activity, just not sure if it will be for the better or for the worse.  Regardless, I am looking forward to the hunting season beginning and for still another excuse to spend some time in the mo-outdoors.
